Highlights of 1999

  • completed its inaugural three-year strategic plan
  • had significant input into the review of the safety regime for electrical and gas workers
  • introduced a risk-based audit strategy
  • implemented a comprehensive communications strategy
  • reviewed fees and charges
  • finalised its operating procedures
  • implemented a strategy to emphasise pre-registration requirements in partnership with Industry Training Organisations
  • completed the 30 June 1999 year with 32,005 registered workers - a net increase of 913 over the previous year, and
  • worked within its operational budgets.

In July 1999, the Board will launch a national advertising campaign aimed at increasing public awareness of the need to use licensed electrical workers to ensure work is carried out safely and competently.
