Highlights of the Year

  • Murray Willis, Tim Elms, Dennis Amiss and Brian Velvin were appointed to the Board.
  • Murray Willis was voted Presiding Member and Barrie Mason, re-appointed for a second term, was voted Deputy Presiding Member.
Publications
Magazine and TV advertising continued through 2000 promoting licensed electrical workers and the certification of electrical work.

A free pocket sized testing guide was issued with all practising licences.
  • Methods of handling complaints about electrical workers have been streamlined and the processing time continues to be reduced. An amendment to the Electricity Act will further enhance the process.
  • Overheads for the Board have reduced by more than half from $886,000 in 1998/99 to $360,000 in 2000/01.
  • A zero based review of the way the Board distributes its information to electrical workers was completed.
  • Release of a policy on the supervision of electrical workers.
  • A 5,000 contact telephone audit has updated the Board's database.
  • A copy of AS/NZS3760:2001 "In service inspection and testing of electrical appliances" is being issued with 2001/02 licences.
