Examinations and Practical Assessments
The Board continued to provide examinations and practical
assessments on request during the year. Most of the electricians
written examinations were administered by the New Zealand
Qualifications Authority.
It is still the Board's policy to move out of the area of
providing examinations. This will impact primarily on electrical
service technician written examinations.
The timing of this move is still not finalised as it depends
on the up-take of the unit standards currently being developed
through the competency based training system.
However, regardless of whether or not the Board remains an
examination provider, it is the Board's view that the requirement
for safety examinations will remain.

This year 1,592 candidates undertook practical assessments.
