Who Can Be Issued with a Qualified Engineer Identification Card?
Qualified Engineer Identification Cards can only be issued to persons who -
| (a) |
have qualifications in electrical engineering;
and |
| (b) |
were first registered: |
|
(i) |
under the Engineers Registration Act 1924; or |
|
(ii) |
under the Engineering Associates Act 1961, before 1
April 1993 and |
| (c) |
are currently registered, as
applicable; |
|
(i) |
under the Engineers Registration Act 1924; or |
|
(ii) |
under the Engineering Associates Act 1961; and |
| (d) |
have completed courses in: |
|
(i) |
safe working practices relative to the electrical work they
are doing; |
|
(ii) |
testing to ensure safety before work commences and to ensure
safety during and after the completion of the work; |
|
(iii) |
card-pulmonary resuscitation; and |
|
(iv) |
basic first-aid. |
(These are requirements of regulation 26 of the Electricity Regulations 1997).
Applying
for a Card
To apply for a Qualified Engineer Identification Card you must:
- Complete the application form pdf EWLG584 (214 KB).
Comply with the requirements of (a) and (b) above by producing your Engineer's or
Engineering Associate's registration certificate (or a certified copy);
- Comply with the requirements of (c) by providing evidence that your Engineer's or
Engineering Associate's registration is current;
- Complete the requirements of (d) and insert the details in section 3 of the application
form; and
- Pay a non-refundable application fee of $34.00 (this includes GST).
Expiry of
the Card
Your Qualified Engineer Identification Card will expire when you are required to attend
a further safety training course (as specified in regulation 26 of the Electricity
Regulations 1997).
