New Electrical Code of Practice NZECP 46 (2003)The Associate Minister of Energy, Hon Harry Duynhoven, has approved the New Zealand Code of Practice for High Voltage Live Line Work (NZECO 46(2003). The Code of Practice sets out the minimum industry standards for high voltage live line work. The Code of Practice comprises three parts:
- NZECP 46.1 - Glove and Barrier
- NZECP 46.2 - Barehand
- NZECP 46.3 - Stick
In accordance with egulation 28 of the Electricity Regulationsd 1997 the Secretary has set NZECP 46 (2003) as the standard for the:
- Managing and carrying out of work on high voltage overhead electric lines; and
- Competency and qualifications of persons who carry out work on high voltage overhead electric lines.
The standard came into effect on 1 April 2003 and copies are available from the Electrical Workers Licensing Group, PO Box 10156, Wellington or accessible from the Energy Safety Service's website www.ess.govt.nz.
