2. 2003-2004 Practising Licence Renewal

Yes, it's that time of the year when you need to renew your practising licence for 2003-2004.

Renew Online

Last year the Board implemented Online Services @ www.ewrb.govt.nz as an option for those electrical workers wishing to renew their practising licences via the internet. Congratulations to the 2,000 plus electrical workers who took advantage of this service. A brochure is included with your renewal pack that shows you how easy it is to licence online and the advantages of doing so. This brochure easily slots together to create a pyramid that can sit by your PC as a quick guide reference.

One of the tools required to access this service is an personalised file key. This year your file key is printed beneath the code located at the top right had corner of the renewal form. With this key you will be able to update your contact details, safety training and renew your licence easily, safely and at a time that suits you.

Once you have completed your online renewal,, your practising licence card will be posted to you within 10 working days.

Renew by Post

Here are a few tips that will speed the progress of your practising licence renewal.

Make sure that these courses are current:

  • Safe Working Practices
  • Testing
  • First Aid
  • CPR

If they are not, a letter will be sent advising you that your application will be held pending notification that the course(s) have been completed. It is in your interest to ensure that this is done as soon as possible. A list of training providers is included in your pack. You can update your safety training details online if you prefer, or your training provider will send notification to us for input. Once we receive confirmation, your renewal will proceed as normal.

If you do not require a practising licence at this time, please ensure that you fill out Sections 2 and 10 of the application form and return in the Freepost envelop provided.

Make cheques out to Electrical Workers Registration Board or EWRB.

Ensure your cheque is signed, dated and shows the correct amount.

If paying by credit card, we only accept Mastercard, Visa or Amex. Fill in the card number, expiry date and sign the credit card payment section separately. Your bank requires this.

Once your practising licence renewal application has been approved, your card will be posted to you within 10 working days from the date of approval. Your invoice details will be printed at the foot of your card carrier.

Electrical workers with e-mail addresses in the database have already received an e-mail reminder and a link to facilitate online renewal.

If you would like to take advantage of this free service for the next year, make sure you include your e-mail address on the application form when you return it with payment. Or you can simply go online and update your contact details using the file key at the top of your application form.
