4. Complaints Assessment Committees Express Concern

The Complaints Assessment Committees have expressed concerns about the polarity of supply to installations.

In the past four months the Committees have considered five complaints about registered line mechanics who have carried out supply transpositions. All five of the complaints are being referred to the Board for disciplinary hearings.

The Committees believe there are a number of reasons why such complaints have arisen however people relying on visual tests and assumptions rather than comprehensive testing seems to be a recurring factor.

The Committees and the Electrical Workers Licensing Group would like to remind line mechanics to be particularly vigilant about testing polarity.

This will ensure the safety of the public, workmates and themselves.
