Licence renewals during COVID-19 and delay to receiving practising licence ID cards

Licence renewals during COVID-19

Are you trying to renew your licence but are unable to complete your Competence Programme (CP) requirements?

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions some electrical workers are unable to complete their Competence Programme (CP) requirements.

Continue to apply for your licence renewal as usual. We will apply an exemption which will extend your CP expiry date to 2 months after your region has moved to level 2, or an equivalent level under the COVID-19 prevention framework.

Important note: By renewing your licence you are agreeing to meet the CP exemption requirements, and know that your licence can be suspended or cancelled if those requirements are not met.

Delay to Electrical Worker identification cards

Due to the recent upgrade to our EW Portal system, there is a backlog of applications that the team are working through.

This means your licence applications and renewals will take longer than usual and there will be a delay of up to 4 weeks before you receive your licence packs.

We hope to have the backlog cleared as soon as possible and ask for your patience during this time.
