Reminder: Online standards library terms and conditions

The arrangement between Standards New Zealand and the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) for the use of joint and NZ only standards allow members to download and print one copy of each standard.

What you can do

If you’re an Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) member, you can download and print one copy of each standard included in the agreement with Standards New Zealand.

What you can’t do

You can’t upload standards or their content into any website, app, or tool without written permission.

You can’t copy or reproduce standards in any other way unless Standards New Zealand gives you approval.

Why these rules exist

Standards are protected by copyright. Standards New Zealand (and Standards Australia for joint standards) owns the rights. These rules help make sure the intellectual property behind standards is respected.

Digital tools and AI

Standards New Zealand offers licences for companies that want to use standards in digital tools or apps. This ensures standards are applied correctly and legally. They know AI is becoming popular and are open to exploring ways to use standards with AI, as long as copyright and business models are protected. This is something standards organisations worldwide are working through.
