Prosecution - EWRB v Yu-Chien Lee and ASX Construction Ltd

On 2 June 2023, Yu-Chien Lee and ASX Construction Ltd were sentenced on charges of performing unauthorized prescribed electrical work and employing a person to do unauthorized prescribed electrical work, respectively.

In 2021, Mr Lee completed prescribed electrical work when he installed a heat pump at a residential property in Auckland. Mr Lee did not hold registration as an electrical worker at the time. ASX Construction Ltd did not check that Mr Lee was a registered electrician before employing him to carry out this work.

Mr Lee was fined $1,500. ASX Construction Ltd were fined $3,250. Both were required to pay court costs and solicitor’s costs. 90% of the fines will be paid to the Board.
