Electrician (Endorsed Mining Operations)

Required work experience

To become an Electrician (Endorsed Mining Operations) you must have:

  • Held registration as an Electrician with the EWRB in New Zealand for a period of not less than 2 years
  • Completed not less than 2 years of practical experience in the prescribed electrical work of an Electrician
  • Completed not less than 1 year (2000 hours) of practical experience in a mining operation or substantially similar practical experience satisfactory to the Board
  • Adequate knowledge, training, skills, and experience satisfactory to the Board of:
    • The control of earth potential rise
    • The use of relocatable mining electrical equipment
    • The performance of safety functions required for mining activities and mining electrical equipment
    • Risk management.

IMPORTANT: Your New Zealand work experience MUST be completed while holding an Electrician (Endorsed Mining Operations) Trainee Limited Certificate.
