Next phase of registration changes commences 1 September 2026

If you are an Electrician, Electrical Installer, Electrical Service Technician or Electrical Appliance Serviceperson check how the next phase of registration changes affects you.

Endorsed registration classes

Endorsed registration classes have been introduced to recognise the unique risks of carrying out prescribed electrical work (PEW) in high-risk areas (mining operations, medical cardiac protected areas, hazardous areas and mains parallel generation systems) and supervising more than 2 people at the same time.

You will need to hold the relevant endorsed registration class before you next renew your practising licence on or after 1 September 2026 if you:

  • carry out PEW in an endorsed area; and
  • are an Electrician, Electrical Installer, Electrical Service Technician or Electrical Appliance Serviceperson

This change already applies to holders of other registration classes.

You can apply for multiple endorsed registration classes using the streamlined process in a single application for one application fee.
