Prosecution - EWRB v David Gardner

In April and May 2017 David Gardner installed fourteen heat pumps in the Waikato Region. This involved prescribed electrical (PEW) work which Mr Gardner was not registered or licenced to carry out.

On 14 November 2018 Mr Gardner pleaded guilty to fourteen charges of doing unauthorised PEW. Judge Menzies considered Mr Gardner ought to have been aware of what he could and could not carry out, and imposed a total fine of $5,050. The Court ordered that 90% of the fine was to be paid to the Board. Mr Gardner was also ordered to pay costs.
